The F-Word: Mary Queen of Scots (15.30/19.30)
At a time of male dominance, both England and Scotland have female leaders. Although related, Elizabeth I of England and Mary, Queen of Scots have a complex relationship due to their differing religious views and Mary’s claim to Elizabeth’s throne. Threatened by treachery, plotting and rebellion, both queens attempt to out manoeuvre the other, whilst maintaining control over their own mostly-male courts. Fuelled by the terrific performances of its two leads, Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan, who create and dynamic rivalry between the two characters, the film is a dramatic insight into one of the most important conflicts of the 16th Century.
