YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID TRURO FEBRUARY 2019

Qualify as a Youth Mental Health First Aider. A two day workshop for anyone living with, supporting or working with young people aged 8-18.
Trainer: Angela McMillan; accredited psychotherapist and approved Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England Instructor.
Course fee : £175.00 which includes handbook, CPD certificate, lunch and refreshments.
Location: The Alverton,Tregolls Road, Truro, Cornwall, TR1 1ZQ
Dates: Saturday 16th February and Sunday 17th February 2019
Time:9am - 5pm.
As more young people are experiencing mental ill health it is essential that we provide an environment where it is safe to talk about mental health and to understand how early intervention can help with recovery. This course will give you the skills, confidence and knowledge to support a young person who may be experiencing mental health issues.
The course covers:
What is mental health?
Issues that young people face
Depression and anxiety
Suicide and psychosis
Self-harm and eating disorders
By the end of the course you will have:
A deeper understanding of young people’s mental health
Have developed skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
Confidence to reassure and support a young person
Enhanced listening skills
Knowledge to help a young person recover their health
Ability to support a young person with a long term mental health issue or disability to thrive
Tools to look after your own mental wellbeing
