Sunday Sessions #5 - Doc Scott, Randall, Trex, SP:MC +more!
For our fifth and final (Easter) 'Sunday Sessions' party of the season, we are pulling out all of the stops. It really doesn't get much bigger than this in a venue the size of 123 Space.
"Im a DJ who makes music, always a DJ first." (Doc Scott, 1996).
DOC SCOTT is a DJ who we just can't stop booking, for the simple reason that he has been a leading taste-maker and owner of one of the finest record labels in Jungle/D&B; 31 Records. An excellent example of this taste-making was 20 years ago, when he signed Marcus Intalex's 'How You Make Me Feel', which bucked the trend of harder 'techstep' D&B and helped shift melodic, vocal-driven D&B back to the pallette of DJs and other labels. As long as "Scotty" continues to DJ, we will book him. Boss.
Also playing an extended set is the MacIIRecordings/Metalheadz don and one of our favourite bookings; DJ RANDALL, for his Sunday Sessions debut. 'The R' needs no introduction to anyone with even a vague knowledge of underground music heritage or the rave scene. After 25 years at the top and with associations such as "The DJs' DJ" and "Daddy Randall", he is the true definition of "legendary DJ".
Next up is the fast-rising producer and DJ; TREX. As someone we've had a firm eye on for the last eighteen months and who also played at a recent Alternate party, this time Trex will be playing an exclusive album launch set for his new LP on MacIIRecordings; New Normal. Expect razor-sharp beats and collaborations with diverse Bristol artists; Buggsy, Gardna and Medic.
Holding down the hosting for this monster session is our favourite 'middle era' lyricist; SP:MC. A genius on the mic, and in the studio, SP has inspired a whole generation of hosts and MCs. On host-support is our very own resident MEDIC; someone who we're tipping as a future-generation leader in the space.
