Blazing with colour and teeming with imagination, the music of the CBSO’s old friend Julian Anderson has always gone down a storm here in Birmingham, and to celebrate our Centenary he’s written
Litanies
, a Cello Concerto with a magical difference. Fauré’s enchanted garden of mockbaroque melodies (including his famous
Pavane
) and the elegant hijinks of Stravinsky’s
Pulcinella
(in a rare complete performance) will make for a very special evening.
