Portobello Learning Festival 2020 – Refreshing the Reality
Building on the success of the past two Portobello Learning Festivals, the 2020 Festival offers attendees a chance to think deeply about how we get the best outcomes for young people in our schools and communities.
We'll be bringing you all the elements that have made the Festival a success: great speakers, insightful workshops and good fun. We are delighted to offer delegates access to both high profile speakers and also practicing teachers. You'll leave the day feeling not only inspired, but also with lots of practical ideas. The number of exhibitors at this year's Festival already looks likely to top those at last year's event, so there's plenty to keep you occupied during the breaks.
We’ve already slotted in some surprises, and we’ve ensured that great cakes will once again be baked by the talented students of Portobello High School. We will provide lunch, refreshments and participation in the day's programme for the cost of £50.
Underpinning all these elements is our focus on two enduring themes:
• What are the things that hold young people back from learning?
• How can a focus on relationships and young people's experience help to address those obstacles?
We believe that Portobello Learning Festival is becoming one of the memorable yearly events in the Scottish calendar for anyone who believes that young people’s futures should never be limited by their pasts.
We'll soon be announcing news of our confirmed speakers and of your workshop choices. For now, we wanted to confirm that Porty 2020 really is happening. You can book your place as soon as you like!
