Demand for Scottish food and drink exports continues to grow at record pace and provides tremendous opportunities for provenance, nutritional innovation and luxury goods in the international marketplace. As part of the wider Scottish food and drink strategy, Ambition 2030, we aim to contribute as a region to the doubling of food and drink industry turnover in Scotland to £30 billion.

Andrew Chapman, Sales and Marketing Director of Keith Brewery, who were recognised in the HSBC Scottish Export Awards 2017, will share how this award-winning craft brewery has identified its export markets and built its international trade relationships in mainland China, Hong Kong, Australia, France, Panama, Germany, Spain and The Netherlands.

Lewis Maclean, Managing Director of family business, Macleans Highland Bakery, will give an insight to how they have built up their international trade to over £0.5m exporting to Australia, Denmark, Canada, China and the USA, with plans to do more in Japan and Korea. The Forres business celebrated 40 years of baking in 2018, with four generations of the family producing indulgent shortbread, biscuits and oatcakes to customers in the UK and across the world.

In addition, we will be joined by The UK Food and Drink Exporters Association, Scottish Development International, Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce and ONE will outline further details of its own export development programmes to build capacity within the region and accelerate the growth of food and drink export sales.

Further speakers, including a local business case study, will be announced.

The value of food and drink exports from Scotland totalled £6bn at the end of 2017, showing an increase of 11% versus the same period in 2016. Food alone totalled £1.6bn showing year-on-year growth of 15% with demand across many different product categories including dairy, seafood, meat, bakery and fruit and veg.

You must register to attend via Eventbrite. Priority is given to food and drink producers, primary processors and those looking to drive growth in their business and are based in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire or Moray. Places for non-food or drink businesses will be limited to one per organisation.
