Metronome w/ Waldo’s Gift & James St. Ensemble
Following on from some absolutely fantastic live shows in our venue, we have decided this year to put further emphasis on live music not only in Plymouth but in our venue, and have a brand new concept we cannot wait to get started; Metronome.
Our idea behind this is to bring some of the most exciting bands from across the UK to our Gardens and have them fully in the spotlight for one night, showcasing just why they are becoming so revered. Having extensively searched for new music, we are absolutely delighted to welcome the amazing Waldo’s Gift as our first headline act for our new concept.
Having seen these guys at the Walthamstow Jazz Festival we were quite simply blown away by the trios unique hybrid of groove, jazz and math combined with blinding technique, creative musical insight and authenticity; ultimately formulating a sound that leads us to believe that these guys have an incredibly bright future ahead of themselves.
In their own words;
‘Showcasing their own hybrid of groove, math and jazz plus hosting a weekly night at Bristol's The Gallimaufry, where they invite some of the city's finest to collaborate with them; Waldos Gift have emerged as a new force, combining blinding technique with real creative musical insight and authenticity. Featuring James Vine on drums, Harry Stoneham on bass and Alun Elliot-Williams on guitar.’
Support coming from the fantastic James St. Ensemble, a local Jazz band we are incredibly excited about and delighted to welcome to Babylon, as well as our Metronome resident DJ Abe Stupple-Harris.
James St. Ensemble;
In a time when people are talking about Plymouth’s music scene in crisis, we want to chip in with our own take and bring some exceptional acts for your listening pleasure. Tickets available on the door only.
