Aim: To ensure that there is a consistent approach to how people who are receiving a service from Bon Accord Care are supported with managing their medication.

 

Learning Outcomes:

 

  • Staff will understand the legislation around providing medication support
  • Staff can provide safe medication management support to clients
  • Staff have the skills and knowledge to enable service users to manage their own medication as far as is appropriate and in line with their own wishes
  • Understand the grade system for medication and how this can change
  • Understand the differences between Prompting, Assisting and Administering
  • Understand how to support plan medication
  • Understand how to report and record any issues with medication
  • Legal Considerations around Capacity, Power of Attorney and guardianship
  • Understanding responsibilities around Controlled Drugs
