Designed For: This interactive workshop is designed to equip managers, supervisors and team leaders with guidelines to hold a discussion around concerns that a colleague or worker could be misusing alcohol and/or drugs. The focus is on staff as opposed to service users. The guidance given in the session will be in line with the BAC/ACC policy of Substance Misuse.

 

Aims

 

By the end of this workshop you will:

 

  • develop an understanding about how much we drink in comparison to recommended guidelines
  • develop and practice communication techniques to allow managers to hold sensitive conversations with their staff
  • practice holding a conversation with a staff member over their alcohol and/or drug use
