Makaton Levels 1 & 2 (Two Day) Practitioner Training Course
PLEASE NOTE: This is a TWO-DAY Course runing on 10/06/2020 AND 17/06/2020, both days must be attended in order to receive the Certificate. The course cost is inclusive of both days.
Learn the signs and symbols for Stages 1-4 and Additional of the Core Vocabulary
Understand the research which underpins sign and symbol use
Gain an overview of alternative systems of communication
Explore how the Makaton language programme can be used within your setting
Teachers and support staff in Early Years/Foundation Stage, mainstream, partnership and specialist inclusive learning centres who support children with communication difficulties.
Overview and benefits:
Previously the Foundation Workshop, this two day course provides a detailed introduction to the Makaton Core Vocabulary and combines a practical approach with theory and technical information. During practical sessions you will learn approximately 250 signs and symbols from the Core Vocabulary. This course is delivered by Licensed Makaton tutors and is nationally recognised by the Makaton Charity. Participants are required to attend both days to receive a national Makaton certificate.

What are my transport options for getting to and from the event?
There is a free car park at The Vinery although spaces may be limited at busy times. There is also free parking in the streets surrounding the venue, please park considerately.
Buses travelling from Leeds City Centre along York Road include 18, 37, 56, 64 and 68. Please ask to get off across the road from the Irish Centre and be mindful there is a busy road to cross. These buses depart from Leeds Bus Station, the Corn Exchange and other stops within the City Centre. For further information, please contact:

Is there food and drink available to purchase?
Please note that although refreshments are provided on our courses, lunch is not so please make suitable arrangements.
There are limited food outlets nearby so please consider bringing a packed lunch.
