The Lady Who Wore Her Heart on Her Sleeve (doll sewing course)
Local artist and maker Ann Davies makes art dolls with a story. Join her over a delightful 6-week course where she will guide you through every step of this creative process, from making and stuffing the doll's body, adding petticoats, skirts, tops, jumpers, cardigans, hair, hat and - of course - the heart on her sleeve!
This six week Wednesday morning 2.5 hour course will encourage you to learn or enhance the following skills:
- Fabric cutting
- Simple machine stitching
- Hand stitching
- Simple embroidery
The Lady Who Wore Her Heart on Her Sleeve was an idea Ann had for telling a story about a lady who was slightly unusual but kind and sometimes found it hard to fit in. Using this as a creative starting point, Ann used her brilliant sewing and creative skills to make a unique doll. This is a wonderful course for people who love to stitch and explore colour and enjoy making.
Skill Level: Beginners are welcome - enthusiasm is essential and there will be lots of support and encouragement throughout the course. For those who are already confident stitchers, this is a great chance to develop story-telling skills and take their textiles practice to a new level.
Cost: £120 per person - all materials and equipment use are included in the price. Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits provided.
