Monday 14th DELHI
We have the morning to relax and enjoy breakfast and will then start our tour exploring Dehli by means of a Rickshaw. The trip is fully guided and on route we will also be given audio headsets.
We will ride by the narrow by-lanes to see the vibrant bazaars and colourful shops. See the shops selling wedding accessories, glittering borders, bangles, jewellery, bridal outfits, turbans, crystal boxes etc. After seeing the hustle and bustle of the bazaars, we go inside the narrower and quiet residential streets to understand the culture, lifestyle and the living traditions of the old Delhi residents and see them in their traditional dress.
Old Delhi is a maze and there are many beautiful ancient temples hidden mysteriously in its different corners. We will be visiting some of these temples to see the extremely intricate work done on their walls and ceilings with gold, silver and glass. You will be seeing the bejeweled statues of the different gods and goddesses and will be told about the rituals and practices. We will be going inside some old Havelis and will be amazed to see how some of these havelis are being used today by the local craftsmen. We will also be seeing some warehouses of spices, marigold flowers, wedding cards, bridal outfits etc.
We also stop to sample the most popular foods like Jalebis (lovingly called the celebration sweet of India) and Poori/Kachoris ( a spicy snack made with flour with a filling of lentils and served with potato curry).

Morning Campers! Today we are up and out early to see the Taj Mahal emerge from the dawn mists.

Commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the remains of his cherished wife, the Taj Mahal stands on the southern bank of the Yamuna River in Agra, India. The famed mausoleum complex, built over more than 20 years, is one of the most outstanding examples of Mughal architecture, which combined Indian, Persian and Islamic influences. At its centre is the Taj Mahal itself, built of shimmering white marble that seems to change colour depending on the sunlight or moonlight hitting its surface. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983, it remains one of the world’s most celebrated structures and a stunning symbol of India’s rich history.
Exploring Agra by mouth tour in the evening (included)..... A three course dinner guided food walk, where we will experience Agra through our taste buds sampling street food at its best. All non alcoholic drinks included. Veggie options are available.
