IMPACT Guide. Smoking and Mental Health Training
FREE training sessions for Third Sector Support Workers (including Volunteers, Peer Mentors and Carers) providing support to people who have mental health problems. First a one hour e-learning module followed-up with a two hour face-to-face session two weeks later.
The IMPACT Guidance has already been distributed to many organizations and can also be downloaded from
The training includes short sessions on:
- The IMPACT Guide,
- smoking and mental health,
- effect of smoking on mental health medication,
- facilitating discussions about smoking and mental health,
- understanding tobacco,
- e-cigarettes and nicotine replacement therapies,
- local services to help people stop smoking.
A welcome email will be sent to you 2 weeks in advance of the course. There will be a link to a short pre-learning survey which we would ask you to complete right away. Also there will be a link to the e-learning module. Please complete this prior to attending the face-to-face session and bring the certificate generated with you.
Please note that our training room is situated on the first floor of our building. As this is in the New Town of Edinburgh there is no lift access available and people with some health problems or disabilities may have difficulty accessing this room. Please indicate on the registration form if this affects you, and we will be happy to discuss making alternative arrangements for you to access the training.
If you would like the IMPACT Team to come to your premises to deliver the training, and you have between 6 and 12 participants, please contact us and we will be happy to arrange this.
Please note. Although IMPACT training is free, ASH Scotland will charge a £30 administration fee per participant if registration is cancelled less than 48 hours before the training session starts.
