Hey everyone, Last night I left my blazer on the bannister in the main stairwell to get a photo taken and I came back and it was gone. If someone had accidentally picked my blazer up instead of their own please please let me know- mine is a size 34 with gold buttons. Thanks in advance for any help!

Tonight - from 7pm at Dram Tomorrow morning - 09:30 at the boathouse, 10:00 latest! First race is 10:30. This will be a star studded alumni ladies eight against the current members. 11:00 - the Men's 1998 "Blades of Glory" crew take on the young bucks of 2017! All over 500m and competing for bragging rights until the next dinner! Plenty of time for paddles and chat afterwards. A couple of the current members have to dash off to compete in the Scottish Indoor Championships, so we want to get them away on time. Tomorrow evening - Trades Hall, 18:30 for a fantastic dinner! We'll see you all there with bells on!

Afternoon fellow GUBC'ers For those who will be in Glasgow the night before the dinner (Friday 17th), we have booked a private room at Dram on Woodlands road for 7pm. It will be a very informal evening and a good opportunity for everyone to catch up (and prepare mentally/physically for the activities of the next day!!) Look forward to seeing you there

GUBC 150th Anniversary Dinner 18th November – Trades Hall in Glasgow – 19:00 for 19:30 start We are delighted that so many people have bought tickets so far. We have 5-7 people coming from our sister club in Italy, and alumni travelling from the USA, New Zealand, South Africa, Germany, Norway and throughout the UK. We are delighted to have so much interest from alumni who rowed in the 50’s and 60’s, and all years up to those who graduated just last year. The format of the dinner will be our usual club dinner approach – drinks on arrival, 3 course meal, speeches, punch ceremony, prizes to current club members (including a new Quaich for best novice which has kindly been donated by Margaret MacRitchie in memory of her late husband Jim) and a Ceilidh. We have a photographer coming along to capture crew photos and memories from the evening. We are also arranging somewhere afterwards for those that want to carry on. We are limited to 200 seats in the venue, so please purchase your tickets by midnight on Sunday 22nd October. We have sold 90 tickets so far, and from Monday 23rd all remaining tickets will be open to the current members, and I assure you it will fill up fast given we have 150 current members. To purchase a ticket, please follow the instructions on our website here - https://gubc1867.wordpress.com/150th-anniversary/ - you can also find an updated list of attendees on there. Dress code – formal black tie and long dresses, but we would like to see blazers if you have them. We have GUBC Club ties (£10) and Bow Ties (£15) which we can sell to you on the day at the boathouse. Tables and dietary requirements – if you have any special dietary requirements please let us know ASAP. We need to tell the venue by 3/11/17. Also, if you would like to sit together on the same table please contact Laura Rankin (lmrankin1@hotmail.co.uk). Laura is one of our alumni, and is part of the organising committee. She is meeting with the venue tomorrow to confirm table sizes etc and will be able to help accommodate groups we have coming along. Speakers – Quintin McKellar (Former President of GUBC), Imogen Walsh (double World Champion, and former GUBC Club Captain), and Rebecca Vest (Current Club Captain). Friday 17th drinks – given so many alumni are travelling quite far for this event we are going to hold an informal gathering on the Friday evening. Location is being looked into at the moment, but this will give us a chance to catch up and perhaps organise some crews for the Saturday morning! Saturday during the day - we are going to meet at the boathouse in the morning so everyone can have a look around and share some stories, but also to get out on the water for those that want to. Please drop me an email if you would like to get on the water in your old crews, or if you’d like to join in a scratch regatta. You don’t have to race, we’re more than happy just to accommodate people who just want to go out for a paddle. We will have a beer/prosecco tent at the boathouse, and times will be confirmed shortly but it will be in the morning. If you have any other questions or queries please let me know on peterdouglasrussell@gmail.com. Pete Russell GUBC President
