Join other Solo Travellers as you travel through two of Eurasia’s most beautiful countries on this amazing 13-day Georgia & Armenia Tour. Admire the ancient architecture as you travel through Georgia, marvel at Armenia’s mountainous countryside, experience life in Yerevan, the city of contrasts, and explore the spruced up city of Tbilisi – making sure you pay a visit to the Narikala Fortress, from where this picturesque capital can really be appreciated.


Day 1 - Friday 24th May – Yerevan

Today you will wake up refreshed after a good night's sleep, ready to start your city tour. Yerevan, the Armenian capital, is a city of contrasts; clapped out old bangers cruise next to brand new Mercedes, whilst old-fashioned teahouses run next to upmarket wine bars. Your city tour will cover Republic Square, the Opera House, and the Cascade, as well as a visit to the Monument devoted to the Statehood of Armenia, where you will have a great view over the city centre and Mount Ararat. You will also visit the Manuscript Museum. A welcome dinner will be arranged at a traditional Armenian restaurant with folk music for the evening. Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 2 – Yerevan

After breakfast, drive towards Echmiadzin to see the Armenian Apostolic Church. In the afternoon you will have some free time to further explore Yerevan. Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 3 – Yerevan / Garni / Geghard Monastery / Lake Sevan / Dilijan

After breakfast, we will check-out of the hotel and continue towards Garni village. We will visit a Pagan Temple of Garni from 1st century AD, the only one remaining from the pre-Christian period in Armenia. The Temple is located on a triangular cape overlooking the deep canyon of the Azat River. It is possible to organize a 1-2 hour walk through the canyon of Garni to see the amazing volcanic rock formations if you wish. We will then visit the unique medieval monastery of Geghard, which is included in the list of UNESCO world heritage sites. Some chambers of the monastery are carved out of solid rock and possess exceptional acoustics. Lunch in the village house with lavash-baking process (Armenian traditional bread). Our next stop will be the “Pearl of Armenia”, Lake Sevan. After visiting the Sevanavank or Mariamashen Monasteries, located on the peninsular of the lake, we will continue our journey through the beautiful rolling valleys to Dilijan, where we will spend the night.

Day 4 – Southern Armenia

After breakfast we will check-out of the hotel and make a visit to Noratus Village where we will explore a field with hundreds of Armenian Cross-Stones (Khachkars). From here, visit Selim Caravansary, a very well-preserved monument from the 14th century that provides spectacular views of the mountain range beyond. After lunch, you will continue to the Khndzoresk Village, a historic place with very interesting caves and mysterious rocks. Continue the drive to Goris Town, where you will spend the night.

Day 5 – Goris / Tatev / Noravank / Yerevan

After breakfast at the hotel, you will visit the Tatev Monastery, accessed by the ‘Wings of Tatev’ cable-car. You will have incredible views of the Valley of Vorotan River. Driving back towards Yerevan, we will stop at the Noravank Monastery, famed for its medieval architecture and located in a picturesque gorge, this really is a great place of natural beauty and provides wonderful opportunities for taking photos! After lunch, we will be visiting the Khor-Virap Monastery, located on the Armenian-Turkish border with spectacular views of Mount Ararat. You will then stop at a small wine-factory to enjoy a wine-tasting session. Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 6 – Yerevan / Gyumri / Vardzia

After breakfast, you will be checking-out of the hotel and heading to Armenia’s second largest city, Gyumri, to walk around the historical district of Kumayri. After lunch, you will begin the journey to the Georgian border and continue towards Vardzia’s Cave Town, the most impressive and biggest cave town monastery in Georgia. Overnight in Vardzia.

Day 7 – Vardzia / Borjomi / Tbilisi

After breakfast, we will be checking-out of the hotel and visiting Rabat Castle, an impressive, newly-renovated, medieval castle complex, before continuing our journey to Borjomi, a town famous for producing mineral water. Today we will also visit Uplistsikhe Cave Town, which is considered to be one of the oldest urban settlements in Georgia. If time permits, we will also visit Gori, the birthplace of Stalin. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 8 – Tbilisi

After breakfast, you will begin your city tour of Tbilisi. Starting at the Sameba Cathedral, the city’s main cathedral, heading to Meteki Church, set in the historic neighbourhood of Meteki, from here you will take the cable car to the Narikala Fortress, which dominates the old towns skyline. Expect amazing views over the capital from the top. You will also visit Abanotubani, Peace Bridge, Rike Park and wander down the old town streets. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 9 – Tbilisi / Kakheti

After breakfast, we will drive to the Kakheti Region, ‘the cradle of wine’. We will visit a local wine house in the Kakheti Village, where you will not only learn about the history of Georgian wine, but also the process. We will also participate in a Kakhetian bread-making masterclass, where you will learn to make traditional Georgian sweets known as ‘churchkhela’. You will also be tasting some of the local wines and have a traditional lunch made from fresh local produce. After lunch, we will head to Sighnaghi, a small but amazing town, surrounded by the beautiful Alazani Valley. Dinner will be back in Tbilisi at a local Georgian restaurant with folk dancing and music. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 10 – Tbilisi / Jvari / Kazbegi / Tbilisi

After breakfast, we will be driving up into the mountains, stopping on the way to visit the Jvari Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located at the top of a hill with spectacular views of two rivers below; the Mtkvari and Aragvi. Our next stop will be at the Zhinvali Water Dam to enjoy more amazing views and visit the Ananuri Castle Complex. From here, we will travel to Kazbegi, where we will go by Jeep to visit the highlight of the Kazbegi region; the Gergeti Church. In the evening, we will head back to Tbilisi, where you will spend the night.

Day 11 – Tbilisi / Mtksheta / Tbilisi

After breakfast, we will drive to Mtksheta, a UNESCO world heritage site and the ancient capital of the Georgian Iberian Kingdom. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 12 - Tuesday 4th June – Depart Tbilisi

After breakfast, you will check-out of the hotel and have some free time before your transfer to the airport for international flights home.
