GCT Jazz Club presents Tanton/Hardy: Mondo Trumpet
Tanton/Hardy: Mondo Trumpet
A musical tour-du-monde rendered through everybody’s favourite brass instrument ... the trumpet. American trumpeter Pete Tanton (The Riviera Quartet) and Newcastle’s own Graham Hardy (Northern Monkey Brass Band) team up for an international musical extravaganza celebrating the trumpet in jazz and popular music. Expect blistering lines, incredible harmonies, smooth vocals, the odd fluglehorn and a world first: Bossa- Mariachi. Our boys will explore old favourites, new sounds and hidden surprises; there might even be a little Herb Alpert in the offing.
Between them, Tanton and Hardy have played with a host of names on both sides of the Atlantic, ranging from Wynton Marsalis and Bobby Shew to Jimmy Nail and the Drifters. Supported by Russ Morgan, drums; Andy Champion, bass, and Paul Edis on piano, Tanton/Hardy: Mondo Trumpet promises you the world - with trumpets.
