Fossil Free Strathclyde
Scotland's councils continue to invest in the companies most responsible for climate change, holding a £1,683 million stake in fossil fuels through their pension funds. If you supported the Scottish Government's fracking ban, or you're in the Strathclyde Pension Fund, this talk's for you.
Matthieu Munsch and Jenni Tyyska are Divestment Campaigners from Fossil Free Glasgow and run the local grassroots campaign for fossil fuel divestment in the area covered by the Strathclyde Pension Fund. They will speak about the link between the climate crisis and our public finances.
Earlier this year, Commonweal, UNISON and Friends of the Earth Scotland called on Scotland's councils to publicly commit to divest from fossils and to channel this money instead to projects which benefit Scotland's future such as housing and renewables - examples already exist.
