#exabits: Computing History & Turing Tour, Manchester 17Apr20
An afternoon walking tour packed full of interest for friendly adults with a common interest in Computing Education, Computer Science and Computing history.
Accompanied children are welcome, but the content is aimed at an older audience.
Join us on our second Alan Turing inspired history trip in the city of Manchester. Starting at a cafe close to the University of Manchester, our tour will take in some sites with special historic significance to Alan Turing and the development of ther modern computer. The tour will terminate at either the University of Manchester or the Science and Industry Museum. By joining our group, you'll be able to indulge your own interests and passions, forge friendships with teachers and others, as well as gaining inspiration and insights, ideas & activities to use in your own school or community all under the guidance of our experienced Computer Science communicators.
Detailed itinerary: To be announced. Expect the tour to vary according to the audience needs, group size, access requirements and weather conditions. Estimated walking time of 30-55mins or 1.5-3 miles in length from start to end.
- 11-11.30am Meet'n'greet: held at Caffe Nero (upstairs in Blackwell's).
- Aim to join us by 11.20am at the latest to ensure the best experience for yourself
- 11.30-2pm Walking Tour: A detailed itinerary will be shared closer to the time
- 2pm-3.30pm+ Optional activities For after the tour, leave when you've had enough.
