Edinburgh Passion Last Supper - Cyrenians Flavour and Haver
Cyrenians' cook school is a thriving social enterprise whose ethos of ‘Something to Eat, Someone to Eat With’ underpins all that they do. Activities include cooking classes for people who might be homeless or at risk of homelessness; community cook clubs; cooking masterclasses and Syrian supper clubs.
For Passion 2020 we will put on a flavour of our frequently sold out Syrian supper clubs. Our regular chefs, refugees who have settled in our community, come twice a month to cook a feast for 25 lucky members of the public who have brought one of the much sought after tickets on EventBrite. The clubs provide paid employment for the chefs as well as the ability to share their food culture with others in their community.
Come along and enjoy a wonderful meze feast that might include the best hummus and baklava you have ever tasted; kubbeh; Baba Ganoush; cheese pastries and other wonderful delicacies. And as a bonus, you will have the opportunity to view the 'Disconnected' exhibition of photos by Patrick Keast – an extraordinary insight into the journey of recovery. By focusing on the people and sights that others often walk by, his work challenges preconceptions about the dispossessed, excluded and ourselves.
Tickets are free, but a donation is necessary to support the project.
