High Grade Entertainment is proud to present an epic, powerful, dub night with dub heavyweights GAUDI, ALMAMEGRETTA & PAOLO BALDINI DUB FILES , live at The Scala, 28th of February 2019.
Old time music collaborators, the history of Gaudi and Almamegretta go back at the beginning of the 90s, when Almamegretta remixed Gaudi track 'Desert' (from his album 'Earthbound’) and Gaudi returning the favour remixing their track 'O mmeglio d'a'vita’ from the 'Quattro Quarti’ album. Since then many works have followed in the last two decades, including more remixes and recording sessions ('Just Say Who' ft. Horace Andy, 'O saje cumm'e', both remixed by Gaudi), many live performances worldwide and songwriting with lead singer Raiz and Dj Pathaan, the collaborative dub album 'Weirdub' with keyboardist Paolo Polcari ft Bill Laswell on bass, two movie soundtracks and many other projects. Tonight these two real dub pioneers will be reunited on the same stage!

Opening act for this night: Miss Fritty ls Fenomeno show

A global favourite in the electronica and dub/reggae music scenes, London based producer/solo artist Gaudi keeps his ever-growing fan base delighting worldwide dancefloors with his infectious bass-driven tunes and innovative live performances.
Honouring the traditions of old school dub techniques by performing on stage without a computer, Gaudi’s accurate sonic manipulations are interwoven with live Theremin, Moog synthesiser, Vocoder, Tape Echoes, Percussion and live vocals provided by vocalist / UK beat-box champion Danny Ladwa, - all of which makes for a one of-a-kind experience not to be missed!
There’s no easy way to encapsulate Gaudi’s vast body of work, for the past three decades he has been shattering genre barriers, pioneering psychedelic dub, global-beats and reggae music, amassing a stunning collection of originals, albums, remixes and studio work with artists such as: Lee Scratch Perry, Steel Pulse, Sizzla, Horace Andy, The Beat, Michael Rose, Bob Marley, African Head Charge, Michael Franti, Barrington Levy, Hollie Cook, Adrian Sherwood, Zion Train, Sly & Robbie, Ernest Ranglin, Desmond Dekker, Lamb, Trentemoller, Simple Minds, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, The Orb, Deep Forest, Caparezza, Adamski, Shpongle, Beats Antique, Dub FX, Balkan Beat Box, Youth, Dub Pistols, Grandmaster Flash ft KRS ONE, Afrika Bambaataa, Pete Namlook, Almamegretta, Dennis Bovell, Elisa, General Levy, Morgan, Raiz to name but a few.
His latest album ‘Epic Circuits’, done in collaboration with Grammy award’s winner Deep Forest, has topped the chart in 12 countries worldwide.

Undoubtedly one of the most iconic reggae band from Italy, Almamegretta was funded in Naples back in 1991. Formed by Raiz on vocals, Gennaro T on drums, Pier Paolo Polcari on keyboards and Albino D'Amato at the controls, they have collaborated with artists such as Adrian Sherwood, Bill Laswell, Massive Attack, Gaudi, Leftfield, Nick Manasseh, Vibronics, Dennis Bovell, Paolo Baldini to name but a few.
Their sound has been described as "Deep Ethno-Dub" with a mediterranean twist.
After their recent 'DubBox" tour in Italy and several other European countries, consisting in an electronic re-adaptation of Almamegretta's most popular songs, they are now bringing their sound to London, where they'll also present for the first time 'DubBox Remixed’, their new forthcoming Ep.

Paolo Baldini Dub Files
Paolo Baldini was born in Pordenone, Italy, in 1975.
With his first band (B.R. Stylers) he stood out in the Italian reggae scene thanks to the massive use of electronics and UK-inspired sounds, which will be one of his distinctive features for a long time. In 2006 Baldini joined the longest-standing Italian reggae band Africa Unite, of which he produced two albums (“Controlli” and "Rootz"). The collaboration with band leader Madaski generated the THE DUB SYNC project.
Over time, his approach and technique became increasingly analogue and inspired by the legends of Jamaican dub like King Tubby and Scientist.
Baldini also is the producer of the most important Italian independent rock band, Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, of which he produced three albums (“Primitivi del futuro/Primitivi del dub”, “Nel giardino dei fantasmi” and “Inumani”) blending rock, reggae and world music.
From their very beginning, Paolo Baldini also is the producer of the Italian reggae band Mellow Mood, which is best-known collaboration at an international level.
In 2014 Baldini debuts with his solo project Paolo Baldini DubFiles, which centres around his work as a dubmaster. In February 2015 he travels to Jamaica to record what would become his second album, entitled “At Song Embassy Papine Kingston 6”. Dozens of artists from the Papine ghetto, the majority of whom are unknown to the mainstream public, transforms Baldini’s riddims into a tribute to Jamaica’s most spontaneous and multi-faceted genius.
After intensively touring Europe and the Americas, 2018 is again a busy year. For his own label La Tempesta Dub, which he jointly manages with Mellow Mood, Baldini produces Forelock & Arawak's To the Foundation, Mellow Mood's Large and its dub follow-up Large Dub.
