A 10 or 20 hour sewing course which is designed for sewists of all abilities.
This workshop is perfect for anyone who wants to challenge themselves with the next pattern whether you are a next stage beginner or the more advanced, choose a pattern to suit your skill level (we can assist with this) and let us guide you through.
“What does this all mean?”
This is an introduction to your pattern. We will be offering guidance on measuring your own body, choosing the correct sized pattern for you, understanding markings on the paper patterns, simple sizing adjustments to get a good fit, adjusting length of your pattern, selecting which pattern pieces you need for your garment.
“First cut is the deepest”
We will be cutting out the pattern and pinning it to your fabric, transferring markings from paper to fabric, cutting out the fabric and transferring markings from the pattern to your fabric. Following this you will be able to start assembling your garment and begin to follow your instructions from the pattern. We will be able to guide you through the terminology and how to follow the instructions.
“Whizzing away on my sewing machine
Next will see the start of you using your sewing machine to create your garment. We will be on hand to guide and advise you on techniques and sewing jargon contained within the pattern instructions.
“It’s all in the pressing”
Continuing on you will be working through your pattern with the help from our sewing teachers.
“the final touches”
Complete your sewing project, hems, bias, buttonholes and more.
This is just a guide though as for those who are more advanced this will vary.
