Cwrs diwrnod yn rhoi'r cyfle i chi droi eich llaw at grefft hynafol y gof yn adeilad newydd sbon Gweithdy - lle llawn ysbrydoliaeth sy'n dathlu sgiliau crefftwyr ddoe a heddiw.


Mewn grŵp bychan dan ofal gof yr Amgueddfa, Andrew Murphy, byddwch chi'n dysgu sut i drin dur eirias a chreu eich addurn metel prydferth eich hun.  Bydd pawb yn creu procer syml, yn ogystal â rhai addurniadau bychain o'n rhestr (os fydd amser).

Mae'r diwrnod llawn hwyl hwn yn addas i ddechreuwyr. Bydd tri lle i'w archebu bob diwrnod.

 

Gwybodaeth diogelwch:

Rhaid i bawb fydd yn cymryd rhan yn y cwrs hwn wisgo dillad addas (gweler y rhestr isod), a dilyn cyfarwyddiadau'r gof am ddiogelwch yn yr efail.

  • Rhaid i unrhyw ddillad fod wedi eu gwneud o ffibr naturiol, cotwm 100% os yn bosib.
  • Rhaid gwisgo llewys hir.
  • Rhaid gwisgo trowsus hir sy'n cyrraedd top yr esgid.
  • Rhaid gwisgo esgidiau diogelwch. Rhaid dod â'ch esgidiau eich hun.
  • Rhaid gwisgo'r sbectolau diogelwch gaiff eu darparu yn yr efail drwy'r amser. Darperir ffedog ledr hefyd.
  • Os na fyddwch yn dilyn cyfarwyddiadau diogelwch y gof, caiff y sesiwn ei chanslo.

Caiff lluniaeth ysgafn ei darparu. Mae croeso i chi ddod â phecyn bwyd neu ymweld â'n bwytai a chaffis ar y safle. Mae pris y cwrs yn cynnwys parcio - casglwch eich tocyn parcio o'r dderbynfa wrth gyrraedd.

These one day courses are a   chance to try your hand at the ancient art of blacksmithing in the   inspirational setting of Gweithdy, the Museum’s brand new workshop and   gallery celebrating the skills of makers past and present.


Working as part of a small group   under the guidance of Andrew Murphy, the Museum blacksmith, you’ll learn how   to manipulate hot steel and create your own uniquely decorated piece of   metalwork.  Each student will make a simple poker, plus a couple of other small items from a suggested list* to take home. *(if there’s time).

This fun, relaxed day is suitable   for the complete beginner. There will be three places available to book on   each day.

 

Safety information:

To take part in this course,   participants are required to wear adequate clothing (see list below), and listen   to and follow the blacksmith’s instructions with regards to working safely in   the forge.

  • All clothing should be made from natural   fibres, 100% cotton preferable.
  • Tops should be long sleeved to cover forearms.
  • Trousers should be loose fitting enough to   cover the tops of footwear and full length trousers only are to be worn.
  • Safety boots are essential – you must provide   your own.
  • Safety spectacles (provided) need to be worn   at all times in the forge. A leather apron will also be provided.
  • Failure to comply with the blacksmith’s safety   instructions will result in the session’s cancellation.

Light refreshments will be   provided. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch or visit our on-site   catering facilities. The price of this course includes parking – collect your   parking pass from the reception desk on arrival.

Language: This course will be held in English but we are happy to   provide simultaneous translation if you would like to take part in Welsh.   Please choose a ticket in your language of choice, making sure you have one   ticket for each person. Please book your tickets at least one week before the event.

Accessibility: The Gweithdy Studio is a 5 minute walk from the main   building and carpark – please contact events@museumwales.ac.uk prior to   booking to discuss any accessibility requirements.

Concession eligibility: Unwaged, over 60s, anyone in full-time education   with NUS card, disabled people.
