As a fully-fledged Mancunian having lived and worked as a secondary teacher in the area all my life, I invite you on my specialty is Family Friendly Tour with a city quiz and bee hunt to keep the younger ones interested.
Manchester centre is an accessible walking city. We will travel through time visiting the little-known Roman fort and I will explain how Manchester was at the forefront of the Industrial Revolution and Victorian Era. On the way, we will learn how the city has survived wars, terrorist attacks and social changes to be at the heart of great music, shopping and creativity. This city is the home of Stephenson’s rocket: the first passenger railways and Cottonopolis.
A City United by its love of football; home of Oasis, The Stone Roses and the Hacienda. The birthplace of socialism where the Suffragettes found a voice; where Rolls met Royce and Marx and Engels began writing, It’s the people who are the heart of this city, the worker bees, with their entrepreneurial spirit, humour and warmth. Be ready to hear the local stories that go beyond the guidebooks. Let’s learn some Manc on the way too.
It will be 3 hours of easy walking with the chance to have a brief sit down or quick brew throughout the visit while others take a longer look round.
