Choral Evensong at Westminster Abbey
The Northampton Bach Choir are delighted to be following visits to St George's Chapel, Windsor, and Coventry, Gloucester, Lichfield, Peterborough, St Paul's, Winchester, and Worcester Cathedrals, with their first visit to Westminster Abbey. As usual, our full compliment of singers is far too many for the ancient Quire of the Abbey to accommodate, so the maximum allowed number of 40 singers will be singing the service.
The musical details are subject to approval by the Abbey, but our proposed programme is:
Preces and Responses - Richard Ayleward (1626-69)
Evening Service in Bb - Sir Henry Smart (1813-79)
O Lord, look down from heaven - Jonathan Battishill (1738-1801)
Admission to the service is free, though there may be a collection received. Please arrive at the Great West Door no later than 4:30pm to guarantee a seat, and ideally earlier if you would like a seat in the Quire.
