As of 18th March 2020, our Chocolate Making Workshops and Scheduled Tours are postponed whilst the country deals with these extensive challenges. We look forward to you joining us once more and in the meantime, we invite you to make reservations for our forthcoming masterclasses. We will contact you at least one week prior to the workshop you have reserved to notify you if we are able to recommence our scheduled program.

There is no fee attached to making a workshop reservation, payments will be taken either one week prior to the event or on the day of the event.


Chocolate Making Master Class Course - Chocolatiering Skills

Learn how to turn freshly made chocolate into a whole range of chocolate treats learning the skills of tempering through to creating truffles, pralines, fondants, caramels and a whole host of filled chocolate products. We'll share with you the secrets of moulding chocolate to create a whole range of shapes and designs. Participants will take home approximately 2 kg of their own chocolate recipe and creations together with lots of hints and tips to be able to make chocolates easily at home.

This 2 day workshop covers the basic principles of being a chocolatier, it's a weekend of chocolate learning, fun and indulgence a perfect introduction for a budding chocolate maker, chocolatier or baker to train and develop their skills and understanding of the chocolate making process.

During the workshop you will:

  • Learn how chocolate is made from the cocoa beans 
  • Learn the basic principles of tempering chocolate
  • Learn how to make your own traditional chocolate truffles and ganache filled chocolates to your own recipes
  • Learn how to make a range of traditional filled chocolates exploring the art of sugar boiling to create caramels, fondants and pralines. 
  • Prepare tempered chocolate for making truffles, chocolate bars and moulded chocolates
  • Create chocolate decorations, shapes and lollipops
  • Beautifully wrap your creations to take home and enjoy
  • Go home with recipes and your newly found chocolate making skills 

What will you take away with you?

Each participant will take home approximately 2 Kg of your own chocolate creations as well as the recipes and skills to be able to make your own at home.

This workshop will take place 9.30am - 5.00pm at our new Chocolate Manufactory and Academy at York Cocoa Works.

Chocolate Master Class Program

Our Chocolate Master Class Series is a 10 course program that covers a whole range of techniques to enable any chocolate lover to fully master and understand how to work with our favorite food. This series of classes can also be taken on their own as individual classes or can be taken as your own series.

Who is this workshop suitable for? 

Perfect for chocolate lovers of all ages and abilities who want to learn more of the secrets to create their own gorgeous chocolates at home.
Please note that we recommend that children under 13 years accompanied by a full paying adult participant

Special Dietary Requirements:

It's really important to us that everyone has a wonderful experience chocolate making, which is why we want to enable every chocolate lover to be able to have a go being creative. We are able to offer most chocolate making activities with dairy free and gluten free ingredients as long as we know in advance. If you have an individual with a nut allergy we have to say that the environment can not be guaranteed as nut free, we do however limit the presence of nuts in our workshop as much as possible, we are also able to provide new and sterile equipment for individuals with highly sensitive nut allergies. Please ask individuals or the parent or guardian of an attendee to contact us at least 48 hours ahead of the workshop so we can discuss with them how best to cater for their needs and ensure they can take part fully and enjoy the results of all their hard work.
