About the charity & the cause:
Rett Syndrome is a post natal neurological condition which strikes previously healthy little girls between 12-18 months, leaving them unable to walk, talk or use their hands, with multiple disabilities and medical complexities for life.
Change is not only possible, but within reach:
2019 is landmark year in which the first clinical trial of gene therapy in a girl with Rett Syndrome will happen. This will replace the missing MECP2 gene and is a potential cure.
This work has been funded entirely by the efforts of families connected to Rett Syndrome. It is a scientific breakthrough and has implications for the treatment of other connected diseases such as Autism, Parkinson’s and MS. It still needs funds to complete the trials to hopefully eradicate the devastating imapct of Rett Syndrome forever. All support will be most gratefully received.
