?Paul Farrell, Automation Test Lead at Gear4Music
Paul is the Automation Test Lead at Gear4music, one of the UK's largest online music retailer. He joined the business as a Senior Test Analyst in November 2018, when Paul introduced Automated API Testing using Postman to the business and the practice of 'early testing' also known as 'Shift-left testing'. Paul is an active member of the Postman community, helping fellow testers with their API Testing queries. He was also invited by the Postman team to speak at their London Customer Summit and their main tech' event in San Francisco, POST/CON 2019. With a passion for helping others, Paul is always looking at ways to improve his knowledge by staying engaged with fellow testers online via Twitter, LinkedIn and various Slack groups. As well as all things testing, Paul is also passionate about music and gaming.
Talk: Postman - The Gateway Tool To Test Automation
A common question I get asked is, "I'm interested in Test Automation, where do I begin!?" I believe that Postman is the perfect tool for testers that want to get their feet wet in the world of Test Automation. In my talk, I'll be telling you how I went from a Games Tester with zero coding experience to a Test Automation Lead. I'll be giving a crash course on how I use Postman to test APIs, how the tool's evolved and how the skills I've learnt using Postman are applicable elsewhere in other Test Automation tools.
?Matthew Williams, Software Engineer at Residently
Matt is a Software Engineer, Tester and all round Genius currently over at Residently, a hailed PropTech startup who’s platform is changing the way we rent property. Matt joined the business helping to solve some of their challenging problems across data and development. Matt believes that good design is the difference between success and failure. Design of systems, teams, cultures... You name it, he probably enjoys thinking about it. He has previously designed multiple automated testing frameworks and managed a flagship Corporate Social Responsibility partnership with Turing Lab.
Talk: Data Driven Test Maintenance
Ever had that feeling where a test fails? What about when a test fails once but then passes the next time? Poorly maintained tests can, at best, slow you down. At worst, they can feed distrust in your product. In this talk, Matt will walk you through some practical ways that you can identify those tests that are dragging you down.
