A fun, friendly and music fuelled, weekly conditioning and flexibility training class for acrobatic, gymnastic and aerial technique. Circus Fitness and Flexibility is designed to progress and invigorate you in a small group, supportive atmosphere.
It’s a good introduction to circus and gymnastics movement for complete beginners and an opportunity for skill specific conditioning for aerial silks, trapeze, rope, straps, hoop.  Gymnastics conditioning and progressions for handstands, cartwheels, splits, bridges, pancakes, walkovers and other movement is included.  Each week we finish with flexibility training.  Whatever sport you’re into, or if you just want to break free of stiffness and lack of mobility from office work or cycling, climbing and running, this is the class for you.
We also run specialist skills workshops in collaboration with exciting dance, gymnastics and circus professionals.  Most recently ‘Circus Legs’ with the amazing Jude Whitburn and coming soon, a straps conditioning workshop with Jack Rees.   Follow us on Insta to catch these.

Bring:             High waisted leggings/shorts/leotard & warm, loose additional layers for the flexibility training.
Expect
15 min
cardio warm up & head to toe mobility and stretch.
30 mins
conditioning, including gymnastics forms and movements, acro partner exercises, floor exercises, abs, legs and an aerial circus skills circuit to improve inversions, climbs, strength, stamina and confidence in the air on a range of equipment.
30 mins
flexibility training: trigger point release using foam rollers and specialist equipment, long individual stretches, partner stretches, active flexibility and skills training for splits, bridges, pancakes, roll throughs, walkovers.  Each week we work with specific exercises to improve mobility and flexibility for hamstrings, hip flexors, quads, calves, upper back and shoulders.
About the teachers:
Nicole A’Court-Stuart is a circus performer and teacher based in Bristol. A multi-skilled aerialist who specialises in static trapeze, She has had a regular teaching post at The National Centre for Circus Arts, London since 2011. She has been supported there with a wealth of training, including participating in Cirque du Soleil’s Social Circus Teacher program and a Circus Space teaching apprenticeship. She is excited about the benefits of circus for all and supporting people to nourish and realise their physical potential. She has a passion for good technique as well as a good work out.
Donna MacLean.
Donna is an aerialist and artistic gymnastics coach.  After first encountering static trapeze classes at Circomedia Bristol and Gravity Circus School Toronto, Donna developed a passion for rope and has also recently been training on straps. She has trained with many leading aerialists and has learnt techniques which draw from many different fitness, circus, gymnastics and physiotherapy practices. Donna understands the challenge of achieving and balancing strength, agility and flexibility for those who have come to circus and gymnastics movement from a wide range of backgrounds. She is motivated in creating an inclusive, eclectic and energising mix of great tunes, fitness, cardio, physio, flexibility training and circus and gymnastics conditioning exercises to help everyone improve their physical confidence and ability, both on and off the equipment. Donna has performed multi-media doubles and solo rope and static trapeze. She creates performance platforms at The Island, Bristol which allow professional and amateur performers from a wide variety of disciplines to collaborate and create new work and shows together.
