AUTUMN WALK. 2x 3 mile circuit walks of Dalkeith country park (do 1 or both)
I m hoping the phases as will be in as we ease out of lockdown will permit larger group walks in the autumn, but I m limiting groups to 20.
Social distancing of 2m must be maintained. Please wear masks in cafes or on public transport.
Come and join me for two short walks. You can do both, or just one!
We meet outside the Orangery by the notice board behind the Restoration Yard cafe.
First is slightly longer but more on the path for the first half heading anticlockwise over the bridge. The route takes us over the A68 and back into the park where we then follow the RIver Esk (N or S) along an unpaved path through woodland so this section could be muddy and squelchy. We return back to the Orangery. It should take about 1.5 hours max.
Plan to break for lunch[masked]pm. Thee are a couple of take out cafes / vans and picnic tables around. I would recommend bringing your own lunch / snacks as it is quicker than trying to be served from the cafe!
2nd walk will start approx 1pm from the Orangery and is clockwise .. more woodlandy, possibly wet and soggy and boggy. And I tend to find different routes each time lol!!! Aim is to follow the route along the other River Esk back to the Orsngery. We should be finished approx 3pm
Dogs welcome. However they should be kept on leads within the restoration yard and parking areas.
HOW TO GET THERE
Walkers are responsible for their own health and safety and if you feel unhappy with the conditions of the unpaved sections of the path, no problem if you wish to use the paved routes as an alternative. Please bring good footwear and rainwear as it will be autumn and could be soggy.
PS. If it us dreich with torrential rain at 9am, I will cancel the walk as it won t be much fun.
I will give contact number for any issues the day before. However I have often found Dalkeith to be problematic getting phone signal or connecting to WiFi.
